Or, as I told the great love of my life "I'd Parrish without you." (Not an original quote).

BILL COSBY WAS CONVICTED

Someone asked on Facebook why his accusers waited so long. I think there are a couple reasons 1) They didn't think anyone would believe them. 2) They feared retribution 3) They felt what happened was their fault. I can think of two cases in which I didn't come forward or press for "justice." Both times I was afraid of retribution, one time I felt some guilt even though the other party committed what would probably be considered a serious HR violation.

One thing I am proud of is I have never responded to a man's sexual overtures or pretended I loved a man to further myself financially or professionally. Even though I am now living in a basement.

School is done three weeks from today.

Watched Gran Torino

I can understand why people would want to pull a Clint Eastwood. I wonder what real estate is going for in that part of Michigan now?

MICROSOFT PAINT

Another brush--the Calligraphy brush:

I read a magazine article suggesting children learn calligraphy rather than the traditional "ball and stick method.  It may have helped me. Here is a painting, with calligraphy, by Guan Daosheng, considered one of the greatest female painters in Chinese history, if not the world:

THE PROBLEM WITH ADVERTISING CAT LITTER ON THE RADIO:

You can't make it cute the way you can on TV, you can just talk about it. Or add mx/sound fx. And it just gets disgusting.

SECURE YOURSELF

Discover Card has promoted me from a secured card to an unsecured one. And increased my line of credit from $200 to $2000. Not that I intend to spend that much money but it's good to know someone TRUSTS me with anything again. For the past year or two I've had the feeling people wouldn't trust me to to babysit a goldfish.

MAGNETIC POETRY

For the past four weeks I have been using the words from Little Boxes of Get Well, Hope, Encouragement and Passion. Starting today I am combining them all--instead of  72 word magnets I have 288 to work with (some of them repeat).

It's still very bad poetry--mediocre, limited, stilted, robotic but at least I am getting something from my brain into visual form.

MAGNETIC POETRY

Keep in mind it was a 15 hour day for me. With a headache and nausea.

WATCHING OLD X FILES EPISODES ON HULU

They look so young. And their equipment looks so old:

I AM SO MAD

I tried to log onto Facebook and got a "friendly" note saying I had violated community standards. What did I do? Someone in a PRIVATE group  posted a picture of  this kid in this pose. Does he look like a Nazi or what? So I responded with "sieg heil." And I meant it:

Apparently this violates Facebook's "wholesome" community standards, never mind the crap I have been subject to from other people over  the years. This is scary. Am I not allowed to voice an opinion? If I think anyone is behaving like a Nazi, a  Bolshevik, a member of the Young Turks Party or one of Shaka Zulu's people.  I think I should be able to call them on it. Bite me, Zuckerberg. Maybe you're the one who's acting like a Nazi. Or worse.

MAGNETIC POETRY

Keep in mind these are written in a cold, dark control room in the middle of the night.

SOMETIMES NO MUSIC AT ALL IS BETTER THAN SOME MUSIC

Whether it's in an Uber, piped into the Chinatown Metro station, the guys singing doo-wop in the Metro Center station or the flash mob "entertainers" with their boom boxes who hustle you for money.

WHAT'S KIND OF OLD IS NEW

Now I will probably make myself unpopular with people on both sides of the fence. The current campaign to ban assault weapons reminds me of the Hobby Lobby controversy a couple years ago. The chain store's medical insurance policy covered most forms of birth control except for IUD's and "morning after"pills. If I'm correct those forms of birth control were available for a co-pay of about nine dollars. But this was not enough for the  "Feminazis" as Rush Limbaugh calls them, or the "liberated  libbies."  They got all hysterical with the "my body, my choice" rhetoric  and were convinced that if religion allowed Hobby Lobby to limit employees' access to birth control other employers would do all kinds of horrible things, for example that Jehovah's Witness-owned companies would not cover blood transfusions.  They called it the "War on Women." Hey, my insurance did not cover Nasonex so I had to settle for Flonase. And it didn't cover contact lenses at all. Is that a war on nearsighted people? On people with allergies? Antibiotics to cover my rosacea cost about 100 dollars a tube and it is easier to get medical marijuana. So rather than deal with the bureaucracy I buy Prosacea over the counter for about thirteen bucks a tube or maybe cheaper if I can get it with a coupon or online. And by the way, there were at least a dozen other contraceptives Hobby Lobby DID cover. And some you can get free anyway.

Now the shoe is on the other foot. Some gun owners are terrified that the government wants to take away their guns--if they outlaw assault weapons what's next? Hunting rifles? Handguns? Water pistols? Pop guns? Nobody wants to take away your birth control and nobody wants to take away guns from RESPONSIBLE owners. Interestingly, when I said I said both people about to have and abortion and those wanting to buy a gun should go through a "cooling off" period I was seen by some women as a traitor. Both decisions involve serious consequences.  And sorry, but you do not need an AR 15 or an AK 47 to go deer hunting or to protect yourself if you are mugged or if someone breaks into your home. So calm down all of you. And harsh as it may sound, if you don't like the birth control options available to you keep your legs together. And your pants zipped. Or pay the damn nine-dollar co pay and  everybody shut up.

MILLENIAL MARCH

I didn't mention it but on Valentine's day this year 17 people were shot to death at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. As a result one student has become a celebrity and seems to be enjoying it. A lot. No, he is not Sheldon on the Big Bang Theory

Kids all over American skipped school supposedly to protest "the violence," although I suspect it was as much either to A) mindlessly follow the flock B) Get a day off from school. How noble of them. More than 20 years ago one of our profs told us about the "sit ins" she "participated in" to protest the Viet Nam War. In her words "some of us were opposed to the war but most of us went to listen to music. And to hang out. And to get high." Actually it was kind of hard to imagine this woman attending a rock concert and getting high, but hey. Her comment also was that if you looked closely at the signs the kids were carrying you would have noticed they were made from the same material. Purchased from the same hardware store. Kind of like a Greenpeace protest I covered in which they were telling people not to eat Whalers at Burger King. I saw one girl in a whale costume and asked how she made it and her answer was "someone asked if I wanted to wear this costume so I said 'sure.'" Same with a kid carrying a beautifully-painted sign. I asked how he made it and he said "someone asked if I wanted to carry this sign so I said 'ok.'" At the end of the demonstration I asked a kid how he felt about what he'd done. He told me had felt good about it but he hadn't planned anything for that morning anyway. Wow, that's REAL commitment. The next weekend Greenpeace pulled the same stunt in the next town and made its way southward through the state of Florida.  I ate a LOT of Whalers for quite a while after that. We were probably no better in high school. We were allowed to March in the March for Life if our parents permitted. I marched because I DID  believe but am not sure all my classmates did. Whatever.

Now people from all over the country have come to our city for the "March for Our Lives," capitalizing, if you ask me, on the March for Life although I doubt these people have much common ground. I imagine some of the people marching this year might have marched in the so-called "Women's March," wearing pink "pussy" hats and dressed as giant vaginas. How charming. I'm sorry, but those women do not represent me. And yes, I am in favour of people of not dying, but somehow these little sheep marching around today don't represent me, either. Something about them doesn't sit right. I hope at least they spend a lot of money, to make up for blocking our traffic, overcrowding our already inadequate mass transit system (some of them have probably never been on a subway other than the the sandwich shop in their lives) and jacking up our Uber fares.

I DON'T HATE GUNS.

There, I said it. I don't LOVE them either. I am not a tree-hugging granolahead teary-eyed flower child--I am not going to say "I hate guns" just to score with liberals. I am also not a toothless inbred gun-toting redneck. Is it possible I don't care? Probably like a lot of America?

This is not fake news. Watch any emails supposedly from Paypal. I just got a VERY convincing one from saying I had ordered more than $35.00 worth of nutritional supplements from the Advanced Alternatives Center in Birmingham, Alabama and that the supplements had been sent to a man in Victorville,  California. There is a  very convincing link to cancel your order. Forward the email to spoof@paypal.com

Kind of appropriate that I matched it up with "Passion."

MAGNETIC POETRY

I have moved on to the "Little Box of Passion." The words in it weren't what I expected--I was hoping more to address the passion I wanted to re-ignite in my life, the passion I thought had long gone out. Father W at Sacred Heart said passion was not necessarily a sexual thing, but anything all-consuming:

So here goes:
