HAPPY ST. JOSEPH'S DAY!
My father was baptized on this day, my grandfather, great-grandfather, several great uncles and cousins were also Joseph, so it's a big day in our family.

MAJOR LATE-WINTER STORM PUMMELING NORTHEAST WITH HEAVY SNOW, HIGH WIND
The National Weather Service says:
"A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an
emergency. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food,
and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency."

GRRR
One of my Facebook friends with SERIOUS medical issues posted pictures of her wounds and got a slap on the wrist to say the least. Yet people can post porn and ads for sunglasses on my wall REPEATEDLY and Zuckerberg and company do nothing about it.

ONE REASON I WENT TO WORK ON INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY
There are only two other
overnight board ops. Both are men, both have families, both have been sick in
the last four weeks. And I don't get paid for holidays, sick days, personal
leave, vacation. Would my taking the night off as a way of "showing them"
have helped any of us?
Another reason: five and
a half years ago I was working about 28 hours a week until WVRX became WMAL-FM.
Then I only worked on an as-needed basis. I was lucky if I worked ten hours a
week--some weeks I didn't work at all. Four years ago I was working twelve
hours a week. I consider myself lucky to have a job.
WHY I WENT TO SCHOOL:
I consider myself lucky
to be in this program. I applied three times to get in. The first time I was
turned away because I wasn't on food stamps. I am not paying a nickel for a
course that would have cost hundreds if not thousands of dollars--the
university receives funding from the city and federal government. Our
professor, a man, gave us Tuesday off so we could study for today's test and
then moved the test to next week. Where my gratitude be if I stayed home like a
spoiled child? And to those of you who accuse me of "passing judgment" -- fuck you. I'd like to see some of these "brave" women GO to work and give a day's pay to the tree-hugging charity of their choice instead of staying home and sitting on their asses all day. Or spending eight hours or more at one time teaching English to immigrants. Any asshole can march in a march, put a sticker on his/her bumper, wear a button or post a meme on Facebook.

HOT DOG!
At least one person scored worse on the test than I did last week. Well, I guess someone has to be last. D said "if you set your sights low you're bound to not be disappointed. H said "he's no Vince Lombardi."

TOOK MY FIRST A+ CERTIFICATION TEST
Got 38%, which was about what I expected. We were supposed to have it yesterday but the building was closed due to a power failure. That's kind of like an HVAC test being postponed because the heat was shut off, a plumbing test being postponed because a pipe burst (happened all the time at my old school), a medical office assistants' test being postponed due to a flu epidemic or a food service management test being postponed to an e-coli outbreak.
