Back from Puerto Rico. Feeling more rested, considering the stupid things waiting for me when I got home. Thought a lot about times in Europe, when I was younger, thinner, prettier, more dateable, more employable.

Then I had an epiphany. If you want to drive people nuts, act happy, even if they aren’t. Especially if you are in a crappy home/job/relationship – people will wonder how you could possibly be happy, especially people better off than you and they might think there is something wrong with them. That way they will feel less powerful.

WEEK 20

Well, we are in Puerto Rico, got room, internet issues etc solved so now we can enjoy ourselves. Also got the Arecibo/Camuy Caves thing out of the way.

Very little work and it's been almost a week since the correspondent's dinner. Funny, I never remembered it as being so competive before. Not only for food, drinks, and space, but for cleverness. In the past it always seemed okay to say "I went, it was nice." Now it seemed to be a competition to be the fastest, the cutest, the funniest. It seems this year most of the beautiful, famous people avoided the receptions, so I was forced to say things like "they've run out of bacon-wrapped scallops" or "Damn! They've closed the fucking bar already."

Oh, for the good old days when Larry Flynt almost ran over my foot with his wheelchair.

Actually no coffee, or at least not Flavia. The fucking machine is broken. Not a good thing when one works from midnight to noon.

Kyle Osborne from Newschannel 8 is surprised that I used the word “fucking” on my Twitter page to describe the fucking Flavia machine. Yes, normally I sound like a “Sopranos” or a “Clerks” character, but I look on my Facebook friends as potential co-workers. Or bosses.

WEEK 19

A light week work-wise, but good as it gave me time to catch up on other things. And get ready for my vacation. Weather sucked, but got better as the week wore on. Unemployment figures sucked, but were not as bad as people had feared. That’s about out as good as anything gets nowadays – not as bad as anyone fears.

WEEK 18

Increasing market value, fluctuating weather, America terrified of swine flu. At least perverts aren't terrified of massages. Also, there's the illness of another person (not close to me) which may or may not have an effect on my life.

Facebook is getting so jammed up and I am getting so many friends/followers I am going to have to hide some. Which means reviewing what my priorities are. And what relationships mean to me.

Then there is the ever-recurring issue of sarcasm. I am trying to curb my sarcastic remarks, which may not help my career or relationships, but it certainly couldn't hurt.

And lastly there's the issue of gratitude. If ind out if people say "please," "thank you" and "I'm sorry it makes me want to help them more. Not sure whether this is reversible.
